University of Utah Project

April 04, 2018 | Posted by: AtlasTreeService | Category: projects

The University of Utah selected us to remove eight mature sycamore trees on campus to make room for their brand new Orsen Spencer Hall Building(OSH). We worked together with the university staff to coordinate the least amount of impact to the students and faculty on campus. We worked closely with the grounds maintenance staff to ensure maximum safety for students and faculty and minimum impact to the property and classroom schedules.

We also coordinated in advance to harvest all of the sycamore hardwood from this project. We removed the trees using our 30 ton crane to maximize harvested board feet in the logs. We are now waiting for these logs to cure and eventually the University is going to mill the logs and turn them into furniture for the new building. It was sad to see these mature trees go, but it is comforting for us to know that they will be used in a productive way for future students.
